Speaking up Works!

On February 17th at the Ypsilanti Township Board meeting, three West Willow residents spoke regarding drug houses in our neighborhood. This was the outcome: Drug Activity at a rental house is not accepted and a warning letter will be sent to the landlord and his/her property will be padlocked for a year. This is of course after the police have been involved. Lieutenant Jim E. Anuszkiewicz was present and spoke to the West Willow residents after the meeting. He said he was going to make sure this is looked into and dealt with sooner then was planned. West Willow is on the Washtenaw County Sheriff's high priority because we spoke up, that is what he said. WEST WILLOW MEETS TONIGHTS- FEB. 16, 2015

Please come out to our monthly meeting today. They're held the 3rd. Monday of each month at the CRC (community resource center, 2057 Tyler rd.) at 7-8:30pm. Come out and meet more of your neighbors and get updates from the police, fire, township and Habitat. There will be updates from our newly formed action groups that are making positive plans to make West Willow into a greater place to live. It's also a time for you to share your concerns, get help from others and be a part of this years goal settings. We need your input to understand all the concerns and needs. CHANGE will not happen unless the RESIDENTS step up, make it happen and keep it MOVING.  The building will be extra warm tonight and hot beverages for all. The W.W.W.I.A. for today has been cancelled due to the weather. The subdivision is still covered with 14-16 inches of snow.  Keep safe and see you March 2, 2015 at 6pm., CRC.

NWWNA Meets January 19th

Happy New Year everyone! Please come out to the 1st meeting of 2015! It will be Jan.19th at 7pm. Location: Community Resource Center (CRC), 2057 Tyler Rd. A special installation ceremony for the 2015/2016 board will take place. Come out and be apart of  setting goals and planning the new year. There will be reports from the twp., police, fire department, and some of the newly formed committees.

CRC open during School Shut Down

NWWNA would like to open the CRC as much as possible during the School Christmas shut down. Most schools are closed Dec.22- Jan.2, 2015. If you are able to volunteer during the hours of noon or 1pm to 4:30pm for one or more days please contact Linda at 734.483.8195 asap. Final dates and times will be posted once their covered. Later times for teens is a possibility. Other needs are refreshments and baked sugar cookies for decorating or cookie dough for baking and decorating items. Financial donations accepted.

HELP WITH WEST WILLOW SURVEYS

HELPERS NEEDED: DEC. 2ND. -14TH.
You can earn a $50 gift card - You don't have to be a West  Willow resident to help with surveys! Because of weather we will only drop off the survey to residents who wish to participate and have them return them to the drop box located at the CRC. You will not have to stand at each door to wait. If you are willing to help or even give surveys to neighbors please contact Shataura at 734-478-6331.

West Willow Women in Action meet Monday

Please come and joy your neighbors of West Willow, Sugarbrook and Gault Village. This women's group meets for fellowship, sharing and listening to guest speakers. Vineyard Church of Ann Arbor- 227 Platt Rd., Ann Arbor. Thurs., Nov. 27th at 11:30am. Doors open at 11:15am. Thanksgiving meal for low income and homeless. People will be picked up at the Delonis Center , 312 W. Huron St., AA starting at 11am. Last shuttle leaves the church at 5pm. Church is partnering with Food Gatherers and asking for donations. Brown Chapel AME Church- 1043 W. Michigan Ave. , Thurs., Nov. 27th. The traditional Thanksgiving meal will be served after worship serving beginning at 10:00am. People may attend service but are not required to attend.

Habitat Home Ownership Orientation Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014

Come to a Homeownership Orientation to learn about Habitat's Homeownership Program in West Willow and how to apply. Saturday Nov. 15th at 10:30am. Location is Greater Faith Transitional  (former Kaiser school) at 670 Onandaga. DOOR TO DOOR SURVEY

West Willow Resident Satisfaction Survey- As Part of the Lowe's Grant that was awarded to H4H for West Willow a door-to-door survey is being conducted throughout  the month of October. We really appreciate all who complete a survey.
Habitat For Humanity of Huron Valley is working with residents of West Willow to learn more about what things you would like to see to make it even better! We would love to have your input by answering the questions of the survey when someone comes to your door. The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. NWWNA updates and HABITAT continued work in West Willow

A special thanks from the entire NWWNA BOARD for the great turn out at the Community Conversation meeting last night. There's lots to do and lots coming up. We are so blessed to have Habitat as a partner. Just looking around the neighborhood and seeing the changes so far is so good. There are many West Willow homeowners who are so grateful for the programs like the Furnace test & Tune; Refrigerator Replacement; Veteran Critical Repair; Exterior Home Improvements and the beginning of Rehabbing Homes in West Willow to increase home ownership! Another one of our partners is Paint Ypsi who does exterior painting and landscaping. They have done homes on Onondaga and Nash. West Willow Community Conversation Meeting

Come share your ideas about what makes our neighborhood great and what things we can do together to make it even better! H4H is hosting a Community Conversation where West Willow residents can voice their opinions about the strengths and needs in our community. Helping one Another

There are volunteer opportunities for you with the PAINT YPSILANTI PROJECT. There is an opportunity for you to help your neighbors, make new friends and beautify your community. The next workdays  are Saturday Sept. 6th, 13th, and 20th.  Workdays are split into 2 shifts: 9am - noon and 1:00pm - 4pm. In fact you can stay for the whole day if you wish or as long as you can! West Willow family needs help after House Fire

Clothing needs for the family are : Females: teen/misses pants size 3 & 4, top sizes s & m. Girl sizes 12 & 14, s & m tops. Women size 14 pants, XL tops. Shoe sizes: 6,7 1/2, 9, 10, 10 1/2.  Males: 38x32 pants, 2X tops. Shoe sizes 8 and 11.
Shelter/Housing: They've  been told it maybe 8 months before returning to their home. They are looking for a place to rent and daily shelter .
